Sugar is sweet and so are you. Eat too much and you’ll turn blue. How many times have we heard that old saying? Well it is true. The food and beverages that you consume become the building blocks for your body. So if you eat nothing but toxic waste, then your body becomes a toxic dump. However if the opposite is true and you consume healthy food then your body is healthy.
A quick lesson on digestion. So when you eat you the first step in digestion is to break down the food into as small of pieces as possible. It is like taking a tall building and reducing it to the bricks, beams, and wood sticks. This is done in our bodies in several different ways. Chewing, chemically (through our spit, stomach acid and gastric juices) and the squeezing motion of the intestines. These small little particle are then absorbed through the wall of the intestines, where they either enter the blood stream or the lymphatic system. Fats, proteins, and carbohydrates tend to into the lymphatic system where they go to the liver and get refined or stored until needed. The vitamins, minerals and refined products of the liver then travel to where they are needed in the body. These once food particles are burned for energy, to repair damage and replace failing or aging parts.
So good or bad, what you eat ends up making up your body. This dose not mean if you want to be sweeter eat more sugar or if you eat a lot of fat you will become fat. Your body needs fats to function. Other than a quick energy source, sugar is useless to the body. It acts like a free radical, bouncing around and causing more damage than good. Foods that are high in fat and sugar tend to be void of all other nutrients, which leads to deficiencies. Deficiencies lead to not being able to heal and repair properly. When you can’t heal, then chronic disease occurs. So changing your eating habits and consuming more nutrient dense foods helps you heal and regain your life. These changes should be done slowly as to not overwhelm a person mentally or detox too quickly. Detoxing too can cause unwanted side effects and cause a person to return to the old habits too soon. It is a process and takes time. Lots of time.
The eyes may be the window to the souls, but your mouth is the window to the body. Next time you put something up to your mouth to eat or drink, stop and think is this going to help or hurt my body? Remember you are what you eat.
