With the New Year beginning and all of our New Year’s resolutions in full swing, I decided I would let everyone know about my favorite stress reliever. I am referring to Reiki. It is definitely my first choice when I need some calming energy…and all of my clients agree. When I tell people that I am a Reiki Master I usually get questions like, “So is that like Kung Fu or Karate?” or they simply say, “Ray-what?” I always smile and then proceed with a brief explanation to give them an idea of what I do and what I am talking about.
Reiki is pronounced “ray-key”. Rei means universal and Ki means energy or life force. Reiki is a healing system that works to balance all levels of self including the physical, emotional and spiritual levels. Recent studies have shown that it reduces stress and anxiety, helps to lower blood pressure, can reduce wound healing time and is effective as part of a regime to manage pain. Reiki compliments other health and medical treatments also.
I felt compelled to be trained in the art of Reiki after realizing the amazing results in my own physical body with just one session. I felt less of the nagging knee and hip pain that I had experienced my entire life, and I was finally able to get a very restful night of sleep. Who doesn’t need a better night’s rest once in awhile?
In the most basic terms Reiki is energy work. We are all made of up of energy along with everything around us. Every interaction that we have with each other is an opportunity for us to exchange energy with one another. That sharing of energy can be good or not so good, depending upon the person we are near. Too much negative energy turns into stress. Stress leads to inflammation and inflammation as many of you know is the root cause of many illnesses.
I believe in a pro-active approach to health and wellness. Get rid of the stress and stop the inflammation from happening in the first place!
Reiki sessions are tailored to a client’s needs and can last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. When you go to a session you should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to simply enjoy the time you are spending on yourself. I love to have a quiet session with no music but having calm, soothing music playing in the background is very relaxing also. I have had sessions where I talked the entire time and sessions where I fell asleep. However you choose to enjoy your Reiki session, it’s the perfect way for you to reduce stress, find peace and stay calm.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and experience a Reiki session for yourself. I know you will love it and your body will thank you for it! For more information on Reiki, or to experience a complimentary class session, please contact me at email@example.com.
Yours in health,
