Summer is coming up, and everyone is looking to get into shape. This is even true for teenagers. The teenage body cannot handle all of the intensity that many adults can. There are nine great summer workouts that were designed with the needs of a teenager in mind.
This exercise is fun to do, and many teenagers go swilling with their friends. Swimming is recommended for the cardiovascular system and is an overall total body workout. Teenagers need to swim for 10 minutes, and they can begin to see the health benefits. This workout also allows them to be outside.
This is another way to get some outdoor exercise. A group of teens can go hiking on trails. This works out both the lower body as well as the upper body.
3. Power Walking
Instead of just going for a stroll the teen should quicken the pace a little. They can work outside with active steps for around half an hour a day. This will allow them to get out of the house, get some fresh air, and get in workout.
This fun beach activity offers a great workout. While it may not be intense, it does use different groups of muscles in the body. It also works out the lower back, and the buttocks. Snorkeling is more than just a workout. It gives the teenager a chance to explore a new underwater world while they are staying physically active.
This fitness style is more than just a trend. Yoga allows the entire body to be put at ease and relax. The teenager will learn how to handle stress and depression through the various yoga moves and exercises. They will also learn how to make their mind healthy as well as the body. Many people feel for overall health a person needs a sound mind. Stress is one of the worst things for the body. The teenager will learn how to manage this stress through yoga while they are working out the body as well.
This is a team sport but offers a great workout at the same time. There is a lot of running, jumping, and working out of the arms, as well as the legs. A teen can play volleyball with their friends, or they can join a league if it is local so they have scheduled practices and games as well as scheduled workouts.
7. Softball/ Baseball
There are a number of the organization that offers team sports. A teenage girl or a teenage boy can join either the local softball or baseball club. There is a scheduled practice which means that there will be scheduled workouts several nights a week. This is a great way to get into shape and interact with others as well.
8. Take out the Dog
A teenager may not want to walk around the community by themselves. Well instead of going alone take the dog out for a walk. The four-legged friends need some exercise as well. They are good company and will get used to the routine. Once they have gotten used to being walked at a specific time of the day they will remind the teenager and keep them moving.
9. Lift Weights
There is no need to lift heavy weight right away. Doing a couple of reps. Every day will help the teen build lean muscle mass. This will increase the rate at which the body burns fat. A ten minute a day lifting session can help the teen burn fat throughout the rest of the day.
These are just some fitness workouts for teens. If they remain active, they will have no problem staying in shape during the summer.
